LIQUIDWAVE · Legal

Privacy Policy

Updated 8 September 2026

LIQUIDWAVE analyzes audio on your device, runs no analytics, and requires no account. The macOS Now Playing feature can make artwork requests as described below. If you join the launch waitlist, we store your email address as described in the waitlist section.

01

Audio

LIQUIDWAVE listens to the source you choose — system audio, a single app, or the microphone (Listen Mode) — and analyzes it on your Mac in real time to drive the visuals. The audio signal is processed in memory and discarded immediately after analysis.

Audio is never recorded, never written to disk, and never transmitted anywhere. There is no audio data for us to receive: the app has no server component.

02

Permissions

To read system audio or the microphone, macOS asks for your permission once, through the standard system prompt. You can revoke it at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security. The app can animate with Ambient Auto without audio access.

03

Now Playing on macOS

Now Playing displays track information supplied by Spotify, Music, or supported browser tabs. macOS asks for Automation access when you connect a player. You can turn off the notch and sidebar displays in LIQUIDWAVE settings and revoke Automation access in System Settings. This feature is not included in version 1.0.0 (11).

Artwork is downloaded from the image URL supplied by the player. When needed, the artist and album or song title are sent to Apple’s iTunes Search API to find a cover. The image and search providers receive those requests and your IP address; their privacy policies govern their handling of the requests. We do not add an account or device identifier, operate a listening-history server, or upload audio.

04

Settings

Your preferences — selected scene, favorites, playback options — are stored locally on your Mac using the standard macOS defaults system. They never leave your device.

05

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Receipts are verified on-device.

07

The launch waitlist

If you join the waitlist on the download page, we store the email address you give us — nothing else — in a private spreadsheet, and a notification carrying that address is sent to our team chat. It is used for one launch announcement, never shared or sold, and deleted on request: hello@liquidwave.app.

08

Changes

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version adds optional iCloud sync — the revision will be posted here with a new effective date before it takes effect.
